Charlie Curilan – Acting Coach Acteerstudio
Charlie Curilan believes in honest acting. No embellishment, no drama for the sake of drama, but craft. For him, acting begins with preparation: knowing what you play, why you play it and daring to fully commit. Your body, voice and imagination are your instrument and they need training, just like in professional sports.
He is an actor, acting coach, American Dialect Coach and voice over artist. He gives training in both English and Dutch, online and in person, individually or in small groups. He has coached actors from the Netherlands as well as Los Angeles. He began his career in the original Dutch cast of Miss Saigon and later performed in the Swedish production at Malmö Opera. He appeared in television productions such as GTST, A’dam en E.V.A., Meiden van de Herengracht and Jos, and in feature films including Boykee and De Fazant. In 2025 he will appear in a new psychological horror film shooting in Rome. He trained at the Mulholland Academy in Amsterdam.
In his training the actor is central, not the scene. He works with elements from the methods of Stanislavski, Meisner, Adler, Strasberg and Chekhov. It is never about following a system, but about preparation, script analysis, clear choices and courage. How do you build a character? How do you make text your own? How do you stay truthful on camera or on stage?
Charlie is direct, precise and committed. He says things as they are, helps you grow and expects dedication. You are not there to imitate something, but to create something real.
